Kenny's Blog - most recent updates!

JENNY just e-mailed me this morning with a link to Kenny's blog.

It has pictures of her and more detail from regarding their whole experience. Check it out!

Jenny continues to show improvement. They took her out of ICU last night and put her in a private room. She is walking with assistance. A nurse holds her and she holds a railing. She can walk a bit. She is eating pureed food. MRI came back and it does show some small clots in her brain so they will do angiogram next week. Her heart's ejection fraction is around 59% the last we heard. It should be between 60-80% but its a huge improvement from 35% which she was at before. She is almost there! Everyone is really encouraged by her progress.

Let's keep lifting Jenny up in prayer, friends!!! :)

Jenny sounds a lot better and was able to talk on the phone today!

She is still in the intensive care unit. They are hoping to perform an MRI soon. Based on the results of this test, they will decide whether they need to do an angioplasty now, or whether they will wait for Jenny to recover more completely before performing this procedure.

If things look good on these tests, they will be moving her to a regular hospital room and out of the ICU.

Please pray for continued strength for Jenny, Kenny, and their families. The extent of any long term damage is still unknown to the doctors, but our God is mighty! Please continue praying that Jenny would make a full recovery and that through all this, many would come to know the Lord.

8/7/07 9:57 P.M.

Jenny took her first steps today!

While we were in California, I remember hearing from Jenny's neurosurgeon that the survival rate for what Jenny has been through is only 10-20%. They never expected Jenny to survive more than a few days...let alone WALK! But seriously...what do these doctors know? :)

All the activity has made Jenny to become much more tired today than she was yesterday...so please pray for strength for Jenny. They doctors are saying that IF things are looking good, she may be out of the ICU as early as tomorrow and over to the regular hospital floor.

One major concern that they have right now is that Jenny's blood pressure has been going much lower than the normally accepted minimum at certain times. They're not exactly sure what is causing this and it's scary every time that it happens.

On another note, please keep the family of our dear friend, Binil Samuel in your prayers. Binil passed away in a tragic hit and run car accident this Monday morning. He wholeheartedly loved the Lord, but we still miss him like crazy. We're all trying to make sense of what God is doing through these events that have shaken our community to its core.

The last e-mail Binil wrote was to one of his cousins and contained the following encouragement to her from Hebrews. I think these verses can be an encouragement to us all as we pray for Jenny and remember Binil, to run hard after Christ, because the Lord may give us another day...or he may call us home to be with Him, at any time.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3, NIV

8/6/07 11:40 P.M.

Jenny's "swan ganz catheter" has been removed. Jenny is only connected to a central line to her heart and one IV. She ate some pureed food today, and tomorrow, they are going to try and get her to WALK a few steps! She's still in critical condition, but her conditon should be upgraded within the next day or two. Praise the Lord!

Jenny is doing okay. Her blood pressure looks good. She will probably be getting a blood transfusion later tonight because some of her blood counts are low. She is still in "critical" condition.

8/5/07 7:34 P.M.

They have removed Jenny's breathing tube and the procedure went well. Jenny is doing well, hasn't had a full night's rest yet, but hopefully she will tonight. Jenny's medicine levels have been lowered. The news right now is good!

Intro

After seeing Christina (Jenny's sister) constantly on the phone giving updates and stressed out :) , I offered to start this blog, so she would only have to call one person with the update, and we would immediately post any updates regarding Jenny's progress.

Thank you all for praying, as God has been moving and has been causing Jenny to recover in a way that has blown the doctors away.
